It dies a quick death

Well, seems my photography contest site is going to die a quick death. After two days of being in the pennysaver, I've had a whole 2 people sign up. Not a good sign, considering the ad cost me $150! But, with all things, there are upsides - such as I have more time to focus on my photo business.

Oh well, you never know till you try!

Pet Photo Contest

Today (literally - after midnight now) I find out if the last two months of hard work pays off. I've been working on a photography contest site, and the first real run of it is now active. So if you want to win $150, enter for free here:

I should know by this Friday if this site is a dud, or if it has real potential.

Follow-up on Beth's Bat Mitzvah

I just wanted to share the full color album from Beth's Bat Mitzvah.

New offerings and pricing structure

I decided that for those who book 6+ hours, I'm going to give a break on the price. For longer bookings, there's more downtime, and I want to price it accordingly. I'm also going to start offering press book albums. These look like magazines, rather than the thick hard pages in many wedding albums, but they can be made much cheaper than regular albums, and multiple copies can be produced a little additional cost to the clients.

Weekend activities

This last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting Ellen's and John's wedding on a beautiful day. This was actually for a studio, so I'm not sure if I can share the pictures, but I was really happy how they came out. It was a very long wedding, but the nice thing about it was I was able to go to the house and had an extended time for the formals, so I was able to really concentrate on that.

I think if the question is ever posed, I'm definiately going to suggest adding time for the portraits rather for the party. Usually, it only takes 90 minutes to get all the pictures needed at the reception if the cake cutting is not covered, so it is time and money well spent to go to the house and get all those additional wonderful pictures.

Beth W. Bat Mitzvah

Yesterday I had the pleasure and priviledge of being the photographer for Beth W.'s Bat Mitzvah over at Northern Temple Israel and at the Mount Kisco Holiday Inn on what was a beautiful day.

Beth did a wonderful job during the service, and, fighting through the giggles, proudly chanted her way into womanhood. The party was a lot of fun with a really rocking DJ and some wonderful decorations by Ballon's by Brian (who always does a wonderful job.) I believe all the kids had a great time as everyone was always dancing, and even the adults got on the dance floor. And of course who can't love a chocolate fountain.

I've known the W's for a few years now, and I really am glad that I could help record Beth's special day. I think this is it for now, as they've plum run out of kids below 13, but I hope to still be around when Beth and Lindsey walk down the aisle. I'll share the pictures in a couple of weeks once they are done.

Hello World

Hello all. This is my first of many posts to this blog. I have to do some quick coding on another project, but hopefully over the weekend I'll be able to add more. But in the near term, I have the W's Mitzvah this Saturday to which I'm looking forward to. I've known them for a long time, and it's always a pleasure to work with them.

To be continued...
